Position Summary

The School of Nursing at the University at Buffalo (UB) seeks applications for a faculty member who will primarily act as a research and statistical consultant, as well as provide statistical instruction. This faculty position will have an integral role in fostering innovative research by supporting faculty and student researchers affiliated with the School of Nursing. This is a unique position that emphasizes the application of biostatistics/statistics to research and instruction. The individual will promote high-quality research by providing expertise on proper research design and assist researchers in ethical and accepted methods of data analysis and interpretation. They will have the opportunity to collaborate with researchers of varying levels of experience and expertise; from novice students, faculty, and clinicians to experienced and extramurally funded researchers. Expertise working within multi-disciplinary teams, research methodology and advanced statistics is a requirement. It is expected that some collaborations will result in scholarly publications, grant applications, and funded research opportunities. The ability to teach advanced biostatistics as well as participate in courses related to evidence based health care, biomedical and health informatics and clinical research would also be part of the job duties for this position.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Earned doctorate in biostatistics/statistics
  • Experience in teaching and research methodology
  • Ability to provide consultations to faculty and doctoral students
  • Record of quality teaching and service appropriate to the Tenured or Research Track position
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with nursing and/or health science practice, education and/or research personnel
  • If an RN, holds an unencumbered RN license issued by the state of New York
  • Evidence of outstanding scholarship and current extramural funding
