Position Summary

The part-time coordinator for the Office of Global Health Initiatives (OGHI) will be responsible for achieving the mission to identify, engage in, and advance innovative and sustainable solutions to significant global health problems; Facilitate the development of effective working relationships with faculty, staff, and students from five departments across the School of Public Health and Health Professions; Collaborate with colleagues and individuals from other institutions of higher learning and organizations involved in delivering care and support to populations locally and globally. These responsibilities include the following: Promote student engagement in global health research and practice. o Coordinate the OGHI student fieldwork award application process. o Link students with global health faculty at UB and internal and external global health opportunities. Coordinate an annual Seminar Series. Promote OGHI through timely and effective communication strategies. o Maintain and update OGHI webpages. o Develop and distribute OGHI updates for wide circulation. o Contribute to the SPHHP and UB publications to disseminate information regarding global health activities at SPHHP and the University. o Develop OGHI annual report for circulation to key stakeholders. Organize meetings of an OGHI steering committee, which will meet regularly to direct OGHI goals and objectives. Collaborate with the Community for Global Health Equity to coordinate the annual Refugee Health Summit and Annual Global Health Day. Coordinate recruitment and exchange program activities for Health in Brazil, a collaboration between the University at Buffalo and UNIPAC in Brazil. Support development of global health content in SPHHP curricular coursework. Assist and support efforts to identify extramural funding for OGHI activities.
