Position Summary

This is a grant-supported position with anticipated funding through March 31, 2021. The individual will be assigned to the ‘Affect Regulation Training (ART) for Alcohol Use Disorder: A Stage II Efficacy Trail’ project under the supervision of Paul R. Stasiewicz, Ph.D. and Clara Bradizza, Ph.D. The individual will be an employee of the Research Foundation for SUNY.

Incumbent will conduct individual treatment sessions including cognitive – behavioral therapy for substance use disorders through the use of a detailed treatment manual. Incumbent will also be responsible for following all project related procedures and completing all forms, medical record recording, and other tasks as assigned. Incumbent receives general supervision providing research based treatments with complex cases being reviewed with clinical supervisor. This position will begin at .50 FTE (18.75 hours per week) but has the potential to increase to .80 FTE (30 hours per week) within the first 6 months depending on caseload. Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree in a clinical or counseling-related field required. Certification in mental health counseling required. One year of direct clinical experience with alcohol-abusing patients required.

Preferred Qualifications

Two years of experience conducting clinical research treatment of alcohol use disordered individuals preferred. Previous experience conducting guided therapy through the use of a treatment manual highly desirable. Training in motivational interviewing (MI) and experience in conducting MI in a healthcare setting preferred. Strong sensitivity to diverse populations, excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work a flexible schedule are essential to the position.
