Position Summary

Reporting to the Assistant Dean for Enrollment Management, the Assistant Director of Admission Communications is responsible for the development and implementation of robust, multi-channel communication plans that are designed to convert best-fit students through the admission pipeline. S/he will manage all aspects of admission communications for the Graduate School of Education (GSE) from inquiry to enrollment, which includes working closely with the admission staff, departments across GSE, and the centralized Graduate Enrollment Services. Additionally, this position serves as a general member of the admission staff, providing support for application processing and review and participation in recruitment initiatives and events.

Key responsibilities
• Development and refinement of the overarching communication plan, segmented for specific audiences.
• Manage set-up, testing, and launching of all mass messaging (email, SMS text, print mailings) for the department, ensuring double-checks are in place to avoid messaging to the incorrect audience(s) and that messaging is visually engaging and functionally sound.
• Oversee website content development and edits to ensure information is always current on the Office of Graduate Admission pages of the GSE website.
• Assist with the creation of a social media strategic plan and polices, engagement via popular social media, as well as coordinate development and engagement on a private social network for accepted students.
• Respond quickly to ongoing requests from the Assistant Dean, admission colleagues, and other internal stakeholders for ad hoc email and text messaging campaigns, both in terms of content develop, message set-up, and recipient list creation and execution.
• Participate in a range of admission tasks including recruitment, outreach, application processing and review, admission events, and other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, or a closely-related discipline is required;
• Extensive knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of oral and written communications and interpersonal relations skills.
• Skill in writing for a variety of audiences and for a variety of media such as email, web, print, and social media.
• Experience with the development and implementation of print and electronic communication strategies, including familiarity with HTML and CSS.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office software suite is required.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and work collaboratively.
• A commitment to diversity and an appreciation for working with diverse populations is required.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree is preferred.
• Relevant experience in admission and recruitment is preferred.

• Previous hands-on experience working with databases and student information systems is strongly preferred, preferably with an admission CRM system (specifically Technolutions SLATE).
