Position Summary

This position is responsible for the overall management of one or more residence halls housing up to 600 residents. This is a full-time, live-in position. Responsibilities include general administrative duties; supervision of one or more Assistant Residence Hall Directors, up to 24 paraprofessional staff (Resident Advisors and Academic Assistants), and depending on location supervision of a building secretary; in-hall judicial procedures, crisis intervention/counseling students; involvement in residential education initiatives; advising hall council and overseeing staff programming; work directly with building’s custodial and facilities staff; work directly with Housing Operations in managing housing space. Assist with summer conference housing, new student orientation and other programs during the summer months. Serve as part of a duty rotation system. Serve on committees and represent the department at various campus functions.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree with one year of experience in college student supervision, judicial affairs, orientation or student activities. Excellent administrative and communications skills are required. Based on the need to respond to crisis situation and serve on a duty rotation, travel within the campus and between campuses is required. Candidates will need to demonstrate their ability to meet the transportation needs of the position.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in Student Personnel, Counseling, Education or related field with one to three years of post-bachelor’s degree experience in residence hall or university apartment administration is preferred. Due to the transportation needs of this position a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in NYS is also preferred.
