Position Summary

To support the dynamic growth in the field of biomedical engineering, the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University at Buffalo, The State University of New York has an opening for positions at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Full Professor level. We are particularly looking for candidates who can operate effectively in a diverse community of students and faculty and share our vision of helping all constituents reach their full potential.

The Biomedical Engineering Department (engineering.buffalo.edu/biomedical.html) is a joint venture between the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences and the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at the University at Buffalo (UB). Previous University investments in faculty and facilities have enabled the Department to position itself as a key player in the expanding biomedical/biotechnology corridor in the Buffalo-Niagara region.

The search is open to candidates whose research and expertise overlap with any aspect of biomedical engineering, including, but not limited to, tissue and cellular engineering, computational medicine, instrumentation, bioimaging, biomechanics, and neuroengineering. Successful candidates will be expected to collaborate with scientists, engineers and clinicians in a multidisciplinary research environment spanning all Schools of the University as well as the Gates Vascular Institute, The Jacobs Institute, the New York State Center of Excellence in Bioinformatics & Life Sciences, and Roswell Park Cancer Institute.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must possess a Ph.D. or MD/Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering or a closely related area. Successful candidates are expected to have a track record of research activity in an area closely related to biomedical engineering, and are expected to teach effectively at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
